JOCAVI unveils new AS® Acoustic Shell website

We are proud to announce a specialized website for the AS brand by JOCAVI.

AS® Acoustic Shell is specialized in designing and building acoustic shells for optimal diffusion. The brand sells and rents high quality acoustic shells, designed in the JOCAVI® laboratories (R&D), to fixed or mobile facilities in theatres, auditoriums or for exclusive events. It also carries out installation, acoustic checks and maintenance contracts for its acoustic shell projects.

Our shells were developed and built with lightweight, attractive materials, which facilitate their practical use as much as possible. They can be adapted to the orchestra by changing the number of modules needed and by adjusting their positioning for each orchestra layout.

Portable options

JOCAVI has six different models, three of them with portable possibility. The DYNAMICFLOW, PLURA and WOODFOIL.

The  modules are transported in wheeled flight cases, where the casing is part of the shell’s structure. The placement and number of panels can be adapted to each orchestra according to the number and position of the musicians and stage dimensions that allow diverse configurations with quick assembly and disassembly.

Portable AS

JOCAVI has fixed acoustic shells to be placed permanently on stages. Like the portable options, they are the DYNAMICFLOW, the PLURA and WOODFOIL, but we also have the DIAMOND, the EFFECTFUSER and the NEO 3Q.

These solutions, mainly designed for orchestras, soloists and opera singers are a way to naturally produce a balanced diffusion not losing any of the sound properties. It increases the sound level produced by the instruments, giving a natural sound and color, minimizing the use of microphones that can alter the sound of the instruments.

Because acoustic comfort for musicians, singers and musical directors is fundamental and the sound produced by the different instruments in an orchestra scatter unevenly in different directions, an acoustic shell is required to direct and project the sound towards the audience.

Some acoustic shells in use are no more than flat, convex or concave pieces of varnished plywood. These shells return the acoustic energy in very tight angles of incidence and scatter high frequencies more than mid/lows. Our acoustic shells are specifically designed to also return the mid/low frequencies to the room. This gives an excellent, distributed angular coverage and better balance in diffusion values over a broader range of the sound spectrum, which is therefore better for the mid/low frequencies.

New Year Concert

Earlier this year, AS was once again present in the New Year Concerts in Portugal and Malta with its portable WOODFOIL XL ACOUSTIC SHELLS.

In Portugal, at the New Year concert, conducted by Maestro Nicolay Lalov, the Cascais Symphonic Orchestra highlighted several works from the Strauss family at Estoril Casino.

The President’s New Year Concert of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Sergey Smbatyan, played Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Bernstein and Anderson as well as arias sung by mezzo-soprano Clare Ghigo at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

Both performances were framed by our Woodfoil XL model, comprised of 12 rows of four 120 cm x 120 cm (47.2 x 47.2 inches) wooden panels.

Over the years, JOCAVI Acoustic Shells can be found around theaters and concert halls around the world, from Malta to Singapore.

JOCAVI has launched, on its 26th anniversary, its brand new web radio, JOCAVI Radio.

Celebrating 26 years of an intense bond with the international music market, we are honoured to commemorate it and share an excellent music selection with our clients and friends.

João Vieira's private collection was scanned with the original CD file format (WAVE at 44.1kHz, 16bit per channel) and to ensure the best listening quality, it is being broadcast using HE-AAC at 192kbps at 48kHz.

It is now available, 24/7 at jocaviradio.com
